The Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association (PIABA), an international bar association comprised of attorneys dedicated to the representation of individual investors in disputes with the securities industry, today announced the 2015 PIABA Distinguished Service Award recipient, Joseph C. Long.

While at the University of Oklahoma, Professor Long taught Agency & Partnerships, Corporations, Federal Securities Law and State Securities Law. Now in private practice in Norman, Oklahoma, Professor Long is editor of the “From the Professor” column and frequent contributor to the PIABA Bar Journal. He is the author of a three-volume treatise published by Clarke Boardman Callaghan entitled Blue Sky Law. He is a member of the Missouri, Illinois and Oklahoma bars. This is the eighth year Professor Long has served as Chairman of the PIABA Securities Law Seminar.

He served on the Board of Directors of PIABA for two terms and was honored to act as PIABA’s President in 1999-2000.

The PIABA Distinguished Service Award is a life-time achievement award in recognition of individuals promoting the interests of public investors in securities arbitration. "Mr. Long’s contributions and achievements on behalf of public investors are immeasureable and we are honored to recognize him with PIABA's highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award," said Robin Ringo, Executive Director of PIABA.
