October 26, 2022 (Norman, OK). The PIABA Foundation, Inc. is pleased to announce the winners of the 2022 James E. Beckley Writing Competition. "Once again, the judges continue to be impressed with the quality of the writing and depth of understanding of the issues presented in the Competition submissions," said Robin Ringo, Director. "It is our honor to recognize the winning authors."
Roger Williams University School of Law student, Arya Omshehe was awarded 1st Place and received a $1,000 stipend. Mr. Omshehe was recognized as the first place recipient at the PIABA 31st Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas for his paper, Strolling Through Citrus Groves, Strutting into Country Clubs: A Securities Venture of Investment, List, Profit & Rift.
For her paper entitled, From Flights to Zoom Calls: The Evolution of Puerto Rican Debt Crisis Arbitration Claims, Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad College of Law student, Farida Colonel Piriz, finished second and received a $750 stipend.
The PIABA Foundation would like to acknowledge and thank the contest judging team for their contributions to the selection process: Jason Burge (Louisiana), Melanie Cherdack (Florida), Ryan Cook (Kentucky), Philip Vujanov (Ohio), and Joseph Wojciechowski (Illinois).
